It was a great experienced. The person who’s in charge in facilitating the test takers are very accommodating. I was a little bit surprise though with the speaking test because it was very short and the examiner did not gave any feedback right after the test regarding how it goes (like my strength and weaknesses). Overall It was good. Kudos to everyone.

Took the IELTS test on 25 Jan. Did my speaking test in the afternoon. To begin the day, they got my personal information wrong. For the written test, they have a strange policy when it comes to using the bathroom during the test. I needed to go to restroom so I tried to finish my reading test quickly with 10 minutes left on the timer, only to be told that I was not allowed to go when there is less than 10 minutes on the timer. And you also can’t go between parts. They want you to actually start the timer of the next part before they let you out. In other words, they want you to waste your time on the actual exam when there is a choice to let you go between parts. I have taken IELTS at quite a few different places. This happened to me for the first time. I think that’s unreasonable inconsiderate. For the speaking test, unfortunately, my examiner, an older male with a North American accent who wears glasses with black frames was pretty rude. He was cold, distant and looked very annoyed throughout the test. You pay a lot to do the test and you get people like that to make it difficult for you. I know we shouldn’t be affected but it shouldn’t be that hard to look slightly friendlier and professional and not project your negative emotions onto examinees. On the bright side, the other staff members were quite well trained and friendly.

Overall, it was good but I believe the score system for writing and speaking should be improved! People, who attempt IELTS, are not native and there must be some kind of leniency in marking these parts!

IDP application for Canada Student Visa got rejected. After some further investigation, apparently some required documents from the Canadian Government aren't mentioned or asked for when IDP was helping me with the application. I guess it would be better to find a specific agency for this, even though IDP says they're able to help students apply for Canadian student Visa.
