EducationUSA Accra operates under the U.S. Embassy and is administered by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Unlike commercial agencies, EducationUSA advisers are not compensated by institutions — their remit is to provide comprehensive, accurate information about the full range of accredited U.S. postsecondary options, from community colleges to Ivy League universities. The centre runs a structured five-step advising programme (research, finance, application, visa, departure) and hosts regular online and in-person events including sessions on English proficiency exams, financial aid, and the U.S. admissions calendar. All services are free.

EducationUSA Accra does not charge students a placement fee. Like most education agents, it is paid a commission by the universities it places students into. That does not make its advice bad — but the agent is paid by the institution, not by you, so it has more financial reason to recommend a partner university than a non-partner one.
