🚩 Red Flags to Watch Out For — Sri Lanka

These are the most common scam tactics reported by students from Sri Lanka when applying to study in New Zealand:

• ⚠Fake CRICOS-registered institution lists for Australia — always verify at cricos.education.gov.au
• ⚠Agents charging AUD $500–$1,000 to "file" the student visa — Australian student visas are self-lodged online
• ⚠Sub-standard English language school placements used primarily to meet visa criteria, not for genuine study
• ⚠Promises of visa upgrades (e.g., from student to skilled worker) before completing the study program
• ⚠Consultancies that process applications without explaining the GIC (Genuine Investment Confirmation) requirement
