What is the SQE and how does it affect international law graduates?
The Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) replaced the LPC in 2021 as the route to qualification as a solicitor in England and Wales. International law graduates with an LLB from any accredited UK university (or a non-UK law degree with an MFA conversion) can sit the SQE. The SQE1 (multiple choice) and SQE2 (practical skills) must be passed alongside 2 years of Qualifying Work Experience (QWE).
