★★☆☆☆Update: Early 2025 — Our experience in early 2025 regarding my mother’s ophthalmology case was deeply disappointing and highlights a need for better administrative accountability. After several costly trips between GenSan and Davao to complete various laboratory exams and clearances, we submitted all required documentation on the date advised. Despite being given a firm promise of an update by a specific doctor in the Department of Ophthalmology, we never received any word via call, email, or SMS.
When we reached out to the hospital to follow up, the burden was unfairly placed on us. Being told to redo the entire process after following every instruction is beyond irresponsible and caused us significant financial and emotional strain.
While the facility and many of its doctors are far ahead of others in terms of care and cost, the lack of professional communication and the mismanagement of patient records in some departments are major areas for improvement.
Late 2023 — I encountered several doctors throughout a tedious process of check-ups, laboratory tests, and an outpatient operation. While the whole ordeal was exhausting, it was ultimately satisfying because I was successfully treated.
Despite the long queues at the triage area which typically last 2 to 3 hours, and the 1 to 2-hour wait at each department, the doctors remained kind, accommodating, and understanding. They truly care for their patients.
What I appreciate most about Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) is the Social Services section. They proactively advise patients on where to find financial assistance for medical expenses, whether for lab work or surgical bills. While there are still areas for improvement, the facility and the medical staff are already far superior to others I’ve encountered. For perspective, a private doctor at a different hospital originally estimated my surgery at ₱80,000 to ₱90,000. At SPMC, my final bill was only ₱1,000.

★★★★★Thankyou for the service and care to my patient and monitoring her properly in Aduly CIU.
And big thanks to Nurse Karl John Correa if he's your nurse taking care of you in Adult CIU you don't have to worry because he's the best nurse when it comes to caring, monitoring, and making sure that the patients under him won't be worried about their selves by making jokess.
Thank you SPMC and Nurse Karl John Correa. ♥️

★☆☆☆☆My experience was when I took my fiancee to the emergency. Not sure really what's going on over people passing away left and right. They don't really care over their.Place is filthy and unsanitary. Try to ask the doctor a question they say your getting hostile. Doctors prescribe a medication for someone unable to breath but know one has it available. What kind of crap is that. They just do the bare minimum their until the patient passes away to make room for another victim. People go the emergency to save help save their life not make things worse.
My advice ho somewhere else if you want to live. If you don't have enough stuff or experience just close it down. People in the Government should stop pocketing all the money for their own benefit and at least have healthcare that's decent. Trat it as if one of your family members were their.

★★★★★Can not say enough positive things about this hospital. Although the methods and conditions seem archaic, they are to be effective. At least in our nephews case, who was diagnosed with an acute form of leukemia a few years ago and has been cancer free for over a year now. Thanks to the treatments, care and concern this hospital provides. Give the doctors, nurses and God the glory! There is a new cancer wing/facility with more parking available. Parking is always an issue here however. Keep up the great work SPMC! God Bless you all.
