ACT vs SAT — which should I take?
Both are accepted by virtually all US universities, so there is no universally "better" test. The ACT is slightly faster-paced and offers an optional Science section; the SAT leans more on evidence-based reasoning. Take a timed practice test for each and choose the one you score better on and feel more comfortable with.
Is the Science section still part of the ACT?
Since the 2025 redesign, the Science section is optional rather than a required part of the composite. Take it if your intended programme or university values a science reasoning score — check their requirements first.
How long is an ACT score valid?
Most US universities accept ACT scores taken within about 5 years. Always confirm the policy of the specific institutions you are applying to.
